Jolana Slavikova
Mezzo-Soprano
Jolana Slavíková is an internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano renowned for her compelling portrayals of strong female characters. In the 2024/25 season, she will make her highly anticipated debut as Carmen at both the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest and the Wrocław Opera. Simultaneously, she will appear as Olga in a new production of Eugene Onegin at the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec and as Suzuki at the South Bohemian Theatre.
Her powerful performance as Eva in Adamo ed Eva at the F. X. Šalda Theatre earned her a nomination for the 2024 Thalia Award. Slavíková’s versatile repertoire spans both comedic and dramatic roles, including Isabella in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri at the Wrocław Opera and Suza in Polish Wedding at the Dresden State Operetta.
Among her significant international engagements is a four-year tenure as a soloist at the Dresden State Operetta, where she appeared as Stasi in Die Csárdásfürstin and Maria in West Side Story. As a member of the Thüringer Opera Studio, she performed roles such as Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Clara Schumann in Geliebtes Klärchen by Kay Kuntze, and Vlasta in Die Passagierin at Theater Altenburg Gera.
She has also appeared as Küchenjunge in Rusalka at Theater Erfurt, Pepa in Tiefland at Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, and in children’s adaptations of The Marriage of Figaro and Hansel and Gretel at the Frankfurt Opera.
Jolana is the recipient of numerous international vocal competition awards. In 2022, she was honored with the Hungarian President’s Prize for the Best Interpretation of a Liszt Song, alongside awards from the Hungarian State Opera and the Liszt Academy at the 5th International Éva Marton Vocal Competition in Budapest. She was a finalist at the prestigious International Vocal Competition ’s-Hertogenbosch and won second place and the Thüringer Philharmonie Prize at the Gabriela Beňačková Vocal Competition in Jihlava, Czech Republic. She also won the 36th Dušek Competition in Prague and received the Salzburg City Prize from the Summer Academy of the Salzburg Festival in 2019.
In 2018, Jolana participated in the masterclasses of NEUE STIMMEN, working with renowned mezzo-soprano Brigitte Fassbaender. She has been awarded scholarships from the Czech Ministry of Culture, the ArteMusica Foundation, the Giovanni Omodeo Foundation, and the DAAD Prize.
Jolana holds a Bachelor’s degree with distinction in Opera Singing from the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and a Master’s degree from the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar. She currently continues to refine her vocal artistry under the guidance of Christina Vasileva.
